Grandparents are VIPs at Minneapolis Jewish Day School! We enjoy involving grandparents in many aspects of our program because we truly believe in the value creating and sharing memories from generation to generation.
Not only are special grandparent-generation guests invited to attend a Simhat Dor L'dor (Celebrating Generations) programs on Monday, October 8, or Wednesday, November 21, 2007, grandparents are welcome to attend weekly Kabbalat Shabbat services, select grade-level programs, and any all-school gatherings.
Another important way many grandparents can feel part of the MJDS community is through contributions of time and/or money.
There are a variety of hands-on/classroom and behind-the-scenes volunteer opportunities for grandparents including lunchroom helper, reading partner, fundraiser, and more. There is something very special about one generation interacting with one another!
Often grandparents make financial contributions to MJDS through: cards in honor/memory of someone, personal or business advertisements in our frequently used school calendar, and annual spring benefit attendance. Man grandparents also make gifts to the school’s Annual Fund – the largest and most important fund raiser, designed to help MJDS fulfill its mission, expand its curriculum, retain faculty and staff, and continue to provide the quality education that our families and the community expect. Grandparent participation in the Annual Fund is critical to the success of MJDS’s high quality programming. We also offer endowment and planned giving opportunities.
As a grandparent you will receive our Bridges Newsletter three times a year and have the opportunity to review the school’s bi-weekly Kesher Newsletter on-line. To ensure that we have your correct mailing address, please call, write, or e-mail the school with any address changes. We want to be sure to keep you updated on all the great teaching and learning taking place at your grandchild’s school!
